A Letter from Daniel Silva

Dear Readers, Friends, and Family,

In case you have not heard yet, we are thrilled to share that Moscow Rules CONTINUED at #1 on the New York Times hardcover fiction bestseller list! (August 17, 2008) for a second week. It is also number one on the Wall Street Journal, Washington Post and Publishers Weekly lists. And The Secret Servant is now on the New York Times mass market fiction list for its 6th week. Thank you again. Your support is what makes this all possible.

Thank you also to those of you who have been able to join us at events. We have been thrilled and overwhelmed by the huge turnouts. In fact, an apology is in order to many of you who I know drove long distances to come to my Jacksonville event. Not only was it standing-room only, I know many of you could not even get into the building and had to listen to my presentation on a PA system. Huge apologies for the inconvenience, but please know how honored I am that you all came. We will prepare for a bigger venue next time. Below we are sharing some photos from the road. I enjoy meeting readers and sharing thoughts about the series and hearing your feedback.

For those of you who have just started reading my work, Moscow Rules is the eighth book in the Gabriel Allon series. If you go to this link, we have the books listed in order. While you can start with Moscow Rules, readers tell me for a total appreciation of the series, it helps to begin with The Kill Artist.

The tour continues and right now I am in Florida for a series of dates that include August 8th in Fort Lauderdale and Plantation, August 9th in Sarasota and Tampa, and August 10th in Naples and Fort Myers. Then I move on to the West Coast for events in California. When I look at my calendar with a stop in each place for a day it has the feel of a political campaign schedule. Luckily my trip ends in August and not November!

Please remember to check my
website for up-to-date tour details.

Thank you again for a second week of making Moscow Rules #1!

All best wishes,
Daniel

Once a key operative in secret Israeli-intelligence missions, Gabriel Allon is on the run from his past, assuming a quiet life as a meticulous restorer of priceless works of art. But now he is being called back into the game. The agent with whom he is teamed hides behind her own beautiful mask-as a French fashion model. Their target: a cunning terrorist on one last killing spree, a Palestinian zealot named Tariq who played a dark part in Gabriel's past. What begins as a manhunt turns into a globe-spanning duel fueled by political intrigue and deep personal passions. In a world where secrecy and duplicity are absolute, revenge is a luxury no man can afford-and the greatest masterpiece of all. Read more about The Kill Artist.

A Letter from Daniel Silva

Dear Readers, Friends and Family,

Tomorrow, July 22nd, is the publication day of my new book Moscow Rules...the latest in the Gabriel Allon series which we are happy to report has been getting wonderful reviews....from Library Journal  "a masterwork" ... from the Rocky Mountain News "gripping" and from Publishers Weekly "action-packed and suspenseful"...I hope you enjoy it too.

This week also begins my 33-stop tour and my media interviews starting with the Today Show, Morning Joe on MSNBC, and radio interviews with Glenn Beck, Joan Hamburg and Hugh Hewitt. Please click here to see the full tour schedule. I hope as many of you as possible will be able to stop by one of the events, or catch them on television or radio.

For those of you in the New York area, a special surprise guest will be joining me on July 23rd at the Lincoln Center Barnes and Noble event at 7:30 PM. Please come see who it is.

We are also thrilled to report that New York Times bestseller The Secret Servant is now available in paperback, and again has hit both the New York Times and Publishers Weekly bestseller lists.

You will also notice we recently redesigned my website. In addition to the new look, I have added additional information about the books, the characters and my research. There is a dossier on Gabriel Allon, and an essay on how each series developed. I hope you will find this background helpful and interesting. Finally, for all those who have asked what order to read the books in, we have tried to make that as easy as possible. Click here for a list.

I am blogging on Amazon.com. I am new to the blog world and still feeling my way with it. Comments on my blogs are welcome so post your feedback. Also, if you are an Amazon customer and a Silva fan, don't forget to post your reviews of Moscow Rules -- as well as for the earlier books.

The week of July 28th, I will be answering questions from readers on the B&N Book Club page on Barnes and Noble's website. Again, please join if you like -- and again reviews are always appreciated.

As always, thank you for reading and for all your kind emails and support. I look forward to seeing you on the road.

All best wishes,
Daniel

In Stores Tuesday, July 22nd --- Moscow Rules

The extraordinary new Gabriel Allon thriller from one of the world's finest writers of international intrigue and espionage.

The violent death of a journalist leads agent turned art-restorer, Gabriel Allon to Russia. Here he finds that in terms of spycraft, the stakes are the highest they've ever been. He's playing by "Moscow Rules" now.

It is not the grim Moscow of Soviet times, but a new Moscow, awash in oil wealth and bulletproof Bentleys. A Moscow where a new generation of Stalinists is plotting to reclaim an empire lost, and to challenge the global dominance of its old enemy, the United States.

One such man is Ivan Kharkov, a former KGB agent who has built a global investment empire on the rubble of the Soviet Union. Hidden within that empire is a lucrative and deadly business. Kharkov is an arms dealer - and he is about to deliver Russia's most sophisticated weapons to al-Qaeda. Unless Allon can learn the time and place of the delivery, the world will see the deadliest terror attacks since 9/11 -- and the clock is ticking fast.

Filled with rich prose and breathtaking turns of plot, Moscow Rules is at once superior entertainment and a searing cautionary tale about the new threats rising to the East -- and Silva's finest novel yet.

Now in Paperback --- The Secret Servant

When last we encountered Gabriel Allon, the master art restorer and sometime officer of Israeli intelligence, he had just prevailed in his blood-soaked duel with Saudi terrorist financier Zizi al-Bakari. Now Gabriel is summoned once more by his masters to undertake what appears to be a routine assignment: travel to Amsterdam to purge the archives of a murdered Dutch terrorism analyst who also happened to be an asset of Israeli intelligence. But once in Amsterdam, Gabriel soon discovers a conspiracy of terror festering in the city’s Islamic underground, a plot that is about to explode on the other side of the English Channel, in the middle of London.

The target of this plot is Elizabeth Halton, the daughter of the American ambassador to the Court of St. James’s, who is to be brutally kidnapped. Gabriel arrives seconds too late to save her. And by revealing his face to the plot’s masterminds, his fate is sealed as well.

Drawn once more into the service of American intelligence, Gabriel hurls himself into a desperate search for the missing woman as the clock ticks steadily toward the hour of her execution. It will take him from Amsterdam to Germany to the very end of Denmark. It will thrust him into an unlikely alliance with a man who has lost everything because of his devotion to Islam. It will cause him to question the morality of the tactics of his trade. And it might very well cost him his life.

Filled with breathtaking double and triple turns of plot, and a final mind-bending sequence that will leave readers breathless, The Secret Servant is not only a work of supreme entertainment, but also an exploration of some of the most daunting issues of our times: the war on terrorism, the weapons the West uses to wage it, and the time bomb now ticking in the heart of Western Europe.

The paperback version of The Secret Servant will be in stores June 24th.
